Shoshone

Snake River people

Shoshone refers to a group of Indigenous peoples of the Great Basin and surrounding regions of the western United States, including parts of Nevada, Idaho, Wyoming, and Utah.

The term also designates their Uto-Aztecan language family.

Historically nomadic hunters and gatherers, Shoshone bands include the Eastern, Western, and Northern Shoshone.

The Shoshone guided Lewis and Clark through mountain passes.
