pronghorn

Swift American ungulate

A pronghorn is a hoofed mammal native to North American plains and deserts, sometimes called a pronghorn antelope though it belongs to its own family.

Named for the forward-projecting prong on each horn, it is the fastest land animal in the Western Hemisphere: We spotted a pronghorn bounding across the sagebrush.
