juniper
Aromatic conifer shrub
Juniper is an evergreen shrub or small tree with needle-like leaves and aromatic berry-like cones.
The bluish berries give gin its distinctive flavor—the word gin derives from the Dutch for juniper.
Juniper grows widely in temperate regions and appears in landscaping, traditional medicine, and cooking: juniper-rubbed venison, the scent of juniper in the mountain air.
