sagebrush

Arid western plant

Sagebrush is a shrubby plant with silvery-gray aromatic leaves, native to the arid regions of western North America.

It dominates vast stretches of high desert landscape, giving the terrain its characteristic look and smell.

The sagebrush steppe is iconic cowboy country: miles of sagebrush as far as the eye could see.

Despite the name, sagebrush is unrelated to culinary sage.
