Apollonia

Classical Mediterranean settlement

Apollonia is a feminine given name derived from Apollo, the Greek god of light, music, and poetry.

Several ancient cities bore this name, most notably in Macedonia and along the Adriatic coast.

The name gained Christian significance through Saint Apollonia, a third-century martyr and patron saint of dentistry.

Apollonia was my grandmother's name.
