Paul the Apostle
Paul the Apostle, also called Saint Paul or Paul of Tarsus, was a first-century Jewish convert to Christianity who became its most influential early missionary and theologian.
Originally named Saul, he persecuted Christians before a dramatic conversion experience on the road to Damascus.
His letters to early churches—Romans, Corinthians, Galatians, and others—form a substantial portion of the New Testament and shaped Christian doctrine on grace, faith, and salvation.
Pauline theology refers to his distinctive teachings.
