Judas Iscariot
Apostle turned traitor
Judas Iscariot was one of the twelve apostles of Jesus, infamous for betraying him to the authorities for thirty pieces of silver.
His name has become synonymous with treachery—calling someone a Judas accuses them of disloyalty or betrayal of trust: He's a Judas who sold out his friends.
The kiss Judas gave to identify Jesus spawned the phrase Judas kiss for an act of betrayal disguised as friendship.
