Plymouth Rock
Massachusetts historical boulder
Plymouth Rock names two distinct things united by the same Massachusetts location.
The rock is a granite boulder in Plymouth, Massachusetts, traditionally identified as the landing site of the Pilgrims in 1620—a symbol of American origins, though its historical authenticity is questionable.
Plymouth Rock is also a breed of domestic chicken, developed in New England in the 19th century, known for hardiness and egg production.
The barred variety shows distinctive black-and-white striped plumage.
