Holland
Dutch coastal region
Holland is often used interchangeably with the Netherlands, though strictly it refers to only two of that country's twelve provinces—North Holland and South Holland, which include Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and The Hague.
The synecdoche persists because these provinces dominated Dutch commerce and culture for centuries.
We're flying into Holland next week.
