New Zealanders

Aotearoa's native population

New Zealanders are people from New Zealand, the island nation in the southwestern Pacific.

They often call themselves Kiwis, after the flightless bird that serves as a national symbol.

The population includes descendants of European settlers, indigenous Māori, and significant Pacific Islander and Asian communities.

The New Zealanders I met were friendly and laid-back.
