Mozambique is a country on the southeastern coast of Africa, bordered by the Indian Ocean and sharing boundaries with Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Eswatini, and South Africa.
A former Portuguese colony that gained independence in 1975, it endured a devastating civil war before emerging as one of Africa's faster-growing economies.
Its capital and largest city is Maputo.
The country is known for its extensive coastline, coral reefs, and the Bazaruto Archipelago.
