Portuguese language

Brazil's official speech

Portuguese is a Romance language originating in the Iberian Peninsula, now spoken by over 250 million people worldwide.

It is the official language of Portugal, Brazil, and several African nations including Mozambique and Angola.

Brazilian Portuguese differs noticeably from European Portuguese in pronunciation, vocabulary, and some grammar: She's learning Portuguese to work in São Paulo.

The language shares much vocabulary with Spanish but the two are not mutually intelligible in speech.
