sim
Digital training exercise
A sim is a simulation or simulated version of something, especially in gaming contexts: The Sims, flight sim, racing sim.
The word also refers to a SIM card—the small chip in mobile phones that identifies the subscriber and stores data: I need to swap my sim into the new phone.
In online gaming, sim can describe roleplay focused on realistic scenarios rather than fantasy elements. (All-caps SIM refers specifically to the card technology.)
