Beersheba
Southern Israeli city
Beersheba is a city in southern Israel, the largest in the Negev desert region.
In the Hebrew Bible, it marks the southern limit of ancient Israelite territory, giving rise to the phrase from Dan to Beersheba meaning the entire land from north to south.
The name traditionally connects to wells and oaths—Abraham and Isaac both made covenants there.
