kingdom of heaven
God's spiritual domain
Kingdom of heaven is a Christian theological concept referring to God's sovereign rule and the realm where that rule is fully realized.
In the Gospels, Jesus uses the phrase extensively, sometimes meaning a future afterlife, sometimes a present spiritual reality: The kingdom of heaven is at hand.
The term appears almost exclusively in Matthew's Gospel, where it substitutes for "kingdom of God"—likely reflecting Jewish reluctance to speak God's name directly.
