New Jerusalem
Promised eternal home
New Jerusalem is the holy city described in the Book of Revelation, descending from heaven at the end of time—a place of perfect peace where God dwells with humanity.
The term extends to any idealized future society or utopian community: The settlers envisioned their colony as a New Jerusalem.
It captures the hope of creating heaven on earth.
