Martians
Hypothetical red neighbors
Martians are hypothetical inhabitants of Mars.
Since no life has been found on the planet, Martians exist mainly in science fiction—from H.G.
Wells's invaders in *The War of the Worlds* to countless films about little green men.
The word sometimes extends to anyone or anything seeming utterly alien: These tax forms might as well have been written by Martians.
