Invisible Man is the title of two significant literary works.
H.G.
Wells's 1897 science fiction novel follows a scientist who makes himself literally transparent.
Ralph Ellison's 1952 novel uses invisibility as metaphor for the African American experience of being unseen by white society: Ellison's Invisible Man is considered a masterpiece of American literature. (Lowercase invisible man is the general concept.)
