A luau is a Hawaiian feast, typically featuring roasted pig, poi, and other traditional foods, along with music and hula dancing.
The word has spread to mean any Hawaiian-themed party: We're throwing a backyard luau this weekend.
Corporate and tourist versions often bear little resemblance to authentic Hawaiian gatherings.
