Los Alamos

Atomic City, New Mexico

Los Alamos is a town in northern New Mexico, built secretly during World War II as the headquarters of the Manhattan Project, where the first nuclear weapons were developed.

The Los Alamos National Laboratory remains a major nuclear research facility.

The name evokes the dawn of the atomic age: the scientists at Los Alamos, the Los Alamos test.
