townsite
Future city's footprint
A townsite is land designated or laid out for a town, especially in regions being settled or developed.
The term appears frequently in discussions of frontier expansion, mining claims, and planned communities: The railroad company established a townsite at the junction.
In legal contexts, it refers to the official boundaries and lots of an incorporated or proposed town.
