Murray Hill innovators

Bell Labs is the research and development division of AT&T, responsible for some of the twentieth century's most consequential technological innovations—the transistor, the laser, Unix, the C programming language, and foundational work in information theory.

For decades it was the world's premier industrial research facility, winning multiple Nobel Prizes.

Bell Labs invented the transistor in 1947.
