Little Bighorn
Cavalry's fatal river
Little Bighorn is a river in Montana and the site of an 1876 battle where Lakota, Northern Cheyenne, and Arapaho forces defeated the U.S. 7th Cavalry under Lieutenant Colonel George Custer.
The battle, also called Custer's Last Stand, became a symbol of Native American resistance and of military hubris: He met his Little Bighorn when he tried to take on the whole board.
