Northern Cheyenne
Plains indigenous nation
The Northern Cheyenne are a Native American people of the Great Plains, now primarily located on a reservation in southeastern Montana.
They are culturally and politically distinct from the Southern Cheyenne of Oklahoma, though both groups share Cheyenne language and heritage.
The Northern Cheyenne resisted removal to Indian Territory in the 1870s, with a group famously fleeing back north under chiefs Dull Knife and Little Wolf.
