Juarez
Across from El Paso
Juarez is a city in northern Mexico on the U.S. border, directly across the Rio Grande from El Paso, Texas.
Formally Ciudad Juárez, it's one of Mexico's largest cities and a major crossing point between the two countries.
The city has been associated with manufacturing (maquiladoras) and, since the 1990s, with drug cartel violence: The Juarez cartel controlled the border crossing for decades.
