Tijuana
San Diego's neighbor
Tijuana is a Mexican city on the U.S. border, directly south of San Diego.
It's Mexico's busiest border crossing and a major manufacturing hub.
The city has long been associated with Americans crossing for nightlife, cheap pharmaceuticals, and medical tourism: We drove down to Tijuana for the weekend.
In American slang, Tijuana sometimes evokes seediness—Tijuana Bible was mid-20th-century slang for pornographic comic booklets.
