Heidegger
Dasein's chief theorist
Heidegger refers to Martin Heidegger (1889–1976), a German philosopher whose work on the nature of being, existence, and time made him one of the most influential—and controversial—thinkers of the twentieth century.
His magnum opus *Being and Time* introduced concepts like Dasein (human existence) and explored how we understand our own mortality.
Heidegger's legacy is complicated by his membership in the Nazi party, a fact that continues to provoke debate about the relationship between his philosophy and his politics.
