Bertrand Russell
Bertrand Russell was a British philosopher, mathematician, and public intellectual who lived from 1872 to 1970.
His work in logic and the foundations of mathematics, particularly *Principia Mathematica* with Alfred North Whitehead, shaped twentieth-century analytic philosophy.
Russell was also known for his social activism, pacifism, and popular writings on ethics, religion, and politics: Russell's teapot, his thought experiment about unfalsifiable claims, remains a touchstone in debates about burden of proof.
