givenness
Already known quality
Givenness is the quality of being already present or presupposed—something taken as established rather than questioned.
In philosophy, it refers to what appears directly to consciousness before interpretation: the givenness of sensory experience.
More broadly, givenness describes whatever feels like a fixed condition of existence: the givenness of mortality, the givenness of the body we inhabit.
