Otto von Bismarck

Otto von Bismarck was the Prussian statesman who unified Germany in 1871 and served as its first chancellor until 1890.

His name evokes shrewd, ruthless political maneuvering—what he called Realpolitik.

A Bismarck is also a filled doughnut, named for the chancellor, and a major World War II German battleship.
