Haight-Ashbury

Sixties counterculture district

Haight-Ashbury is a neighborhood in San Francisco, named for the intersection of Haight and Ashbury streets.

It became the epicenter of 1960s counterculture—hippies, psychedelic drugs, free love, and the Summer of Love in 1967.

The name still evokes that era: a Haight-Ashbury vibe, dressed like she just walked out of Haight-Ashbury.
