Jerry Garcia

Jerry Garcia (1942–1995) was the lead guitarist and vocalist of the Grateful Dead, the San Francisco band that became the center of a countercultural movement spanning three decades.

His improvisational style, avuncular presence, and the band's endless touring created a devoted following—Deadheads—who traded recordings and followed the band from show to show.

Garcia struggled with drug addiction and health problems throughout his later years.

His name attaches to various products and references: Jerry Garcia ties, a Ben & Jerry's flavor.
