draft resistance
Refusing military service
Draft resistance is opposition to military conscription, ranging from individual refusal to organized movements.
During the Vietnam War, draft resistance became a major form of antiwar protest: He burned his draft card at the rally.
Methods include failing to register, refusing induction, fleeing to another country, or publicly counseling others to resist.
Draft resisters may face prosecution or seek conscientious objector status.
