Langley is the headquarters of the Central Intelligence Agency, located in Virginia.
By metonymy, Langley refers to the CIA itself: Langley has been tracking the situation for months.
The word appears frequently in spy fiction and journalism as shorthand for American intelligence operations.
Langley is also a unit of solar radiation measurement, named after astronomer Samuel Langley.
