Gascony
Historical French province
Gascony is a historical region in southwestern France, bordering the Pyrenees mountains and the Atlantic coast.
Known for its distinctive culture and dialect, it was home to the Gascons, famed for their spirited temperament and military prowess—d'Artagnan of *The Three Musketeers* being its most celebrated fictional son.
The region is associated with Armagnac brandy, foie gras, and rich culinary traditions.
Though no longer an administrative unit, Gascony remains a cultural identity within modern France.
