Anjou
Green when ripe
Anjou is a historical region in western France, centered on the Loire Valley.
The name appears most often in English as a variety of pear—the Anjou pear or d'Anjou—green-skinned, sweet, and commonly found in supermarkets.
The House of Anjou produced medieval kings of England, including the Plantagenets: Henry II was Count of Anjou before becoming King of England.
