Fort Smith

Oklahoma border town

Fort Smith is a city in western Arkansas on the Oklahoma border, historically significant as a frontier outpost and federal court site in the late 1800s.

Judge Isaac Parker, the "Hanging Judge," presided there over cases involving outlaws in Indian Territory.

A separate Fort Smith exists in Canada's Northwest Territories, a remote town near Great Slave Lake.
