Little Rock Nine
Central High students
The Little Rock Nine were nine Black students who integrated Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas, in 1957.
Their enrollment, following the Supreme Court's Brown v.
Board of Education ruling, provoked violent white resistance and a constitutional crisis.
President Eisenhower deployed federal troops to escort the students past hostile mobs—a pivotal moment in the civil rights movement.
