Fibonacci

Medieval Italian mathematician

Fibonacci refers to the Italian mathematician Leonardo of Pisa (c. 1170–1250), but the name appears most often in Fibonacci sequence or Fibonacci numbers—the series where each number is the sum of the two preceding it: 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, and so on.

The sequence appears throughout nature in spiral patterns, branching structures, and flower petals.

In technical analysis, Fibonacci retracements use ratios derived from the sequence to predict price movements.
