arithmetic sequence

Constant difference series

An arithmetic sequence is a series of numbers where each term differs from the previous by a constant amount: 2, 4, 6, 8 or 10, 7, 4, 1.

The constant difference distinguishes arithmetic sequences from geometric sequences, where each term is multiplied by a constant factor.

Also called arithmetic progression.
