Farsi

Iran's official language

Farsi is the Persian language, particularly as spoken in Iran.

The term is simply the Persian word for Persian—Iranians call their language Farsi just as Germans call theirs Deutsch.

In English, Persian and Farsi are interchangeable, though scholars often prefer Persian for the literary and historical tradition: She's learning Farsi, classical Persian poetry.
