Nowruz

Iranian New Year

Nowruz is the Persian New Year, celebrated at the spring equinox around March 21.

The holiday marks the first day of the Iranian calendar and is observed across Central Asia, the Middle East, and diaspora communities worldwide.

Festivities include the haft-sin table displaying seven symbolic items, family gatherings, and rituals of renewal: We set out the haft-sin for Nowruz.

The celebration spans roughly two weeks.
