Episcopalianism
American Anglican tradition
Episcopalianism is the beliefs and practices of Episcopal churches, particularly the Episcopal Church in the United States.
The tradition descends from the Church of England but operates independently, governed by bishops (from Greek *episkopos*, overseer) rather than a pope or central authority.
Episcopalians typically embrace liturgical worship, the Book of Common Prayer, and relatively progressive stances on social issues.
Her Episcopalianism was more cultural than devout.
