vestry

Clergy robing room

A vestry is a room in a church where clergy put on their vestments and where ceremonial objects are stored.

By extension, vestry also refers to a committee of parishioners who manage church business and property: The vestry voted to repair the roof.

In some Anglican churches, the vestry functions as an elected governing body.
