Electra complex

Freudian daughter syndrome

The Electra complex is a psychoanalytic term for a daughter's unconscious sexual desire for her father, paired with rivalry toward her mother.

It mirrors the Oedipus complex in boys.

The concept, named for the Greek mythological figure who helped kill her mother, originated with Carl Jung rather than Freud and remains controversial in modern psychology.
