cDNA
Synthesized from messenger
cDNA stands for complementary DNA—a DNA molecule synthesized from an RNA template using reverse transcriptase.
Because it's copied from messenger RNA, cDNA contains only the protein-coding sequences (exons) without the introns present in genomic DNA.
This makes cDNA essential for cloning genes and studying gene expression: The researchers constructed a cDNA library from liver tissue.
