base pairing
A meets T
Base pairing is the bonding between complementary nucleotides in DNA and RNA.
In DNA, adenine pairs with thymine, and guanine pairs with cytosine; in RNA, uracil replaces thymine.
This specificity allows DNA to replicate and genetic information to be transcribed accurately.
The mutation disrupted normal base pairing.
