vinyl records
Turntable spinning media
Vinyl records are audio recordings stored as grooves in flat plastic discs, played by a needle tracing the grooves as the disc spins on a turntable.
Though largely displaced by digital formats, vinyl persists among audiophiles and collectors who prize its warm sound and tactile ritual: She spent the afternoon digging through crates of vinyl at the record shop.
Often shortened to vinyl: I picked up some new vinyl this weekend.
