MP3s
Compressed audio files
MP3s are digital audio files compressed using a format that reduces file size while preserving reasonable sound quality.
The technology revolutionized music distribution in the late 1990s and early 2000s, enabling people to store thousands of songs on personal devices and share music online.
Though streaming has largely replaced MP3 collections, the format remains common for downloaded audio.
I still have all my old MP3s from college on a hard drive somewhere.
