audio CDs
Playable music platters
Audio CDs are compact discs that store music or other sound recordings in digital format.
The standard format for commercial music from the mid-1980s through the early 2000s, audio CDs were largely displaced by digital downloads and streaming.
Unlike data CDs, audio CDs play in standard CD players without conversion: I still have boxes of audio CDs in the attic.
